LockSmith

One day I missed my key and not able to enter my room. The spare keys were there but that's with my room mate. I called him for they spare key but he was out of station. So the only option left was call for locksmith service. I called them and set the prize in the call itself. They came to my place and unlock the lock within minutes. It is really interesting the work of locksmiths who can unlock locks. What they are doing resembles with the work of hackers who are defeating the Internet security systems. Locksmiths breaks the real life locks and hackers break the Internet locks. So to learn the security engineering the first role model comes in my mind is the locksmiths. So who is a professional locksmith ? How they work ? these are really nice things to read.

The history of locksmiths starts from the time of ancient civilizations. It is believed that first lock was made in Egypt. When the people become aware of the security of their money and other valuable stuff they stated their searching for a way to lock it from others. Finally they invented lock which can be unlocked by a key. Now a days the job of a locksmith is vast wide compared to the olden days. Many of the locksmiths work as security consultants and they are master in certain security fields. In general we can call a guy who is working in this fields as Locksmith but to call him Master Locksmith he need to have some certifications. The certificates are issued by some security agencies and reputed Locksmith companies. They should be trained in electronic access, alarm systems , intruder blocking systems etc.

Lock picking too have the same old as the first lock system invented. Lock picking is the process of cracking or unlocking a lock with or without any tools. There are many interesting tools used for lock picking. They are tension wrench, Half diamond pick, hook pick, pick guns etc. Tension wrench is a tool which look like the letter "L". This tool directly attack the inner cylinder of the lock and turn it. When the inner cylinder turns it will be opened. There are many variations of tension wrenches are available and it is the one who got most popularity among lock picking tools. The next important lock picking tool is half diamond pick. It is mainly used to pick the disk locks. Hook pick is a similar tool but the tip is hook shaped. Pick guns is the one of the new device to pick a lock. The pick is operated by simply pressing a button that vibrates while the normal tension wrench is being used.

The keys we are using are of different kinds. They are master keys, control keys, transponder key,double-sided keys,four-sided keys etc. Master key is the which can be used to open any locks in a particular group of keys. See the situation in a store where many locks are present. Each lock has its own key. It is not possible for the store supervisor to carry all the keys. So for him one master key is enough to open any locks in the store. In added security using a sub key we cannot open a different lock in the store. Control key is a special key used in removable core locking systems. Transponder keys are a new generation key which used to protect cars , important gateways. The working of transponder key is very simple as the lock itself is a circuit and to unlock it we need to use the particular key. When we insert the key in to the lock the circuit will be complete and we can turn on the car or unlock the gate. Double sided key has teeth on both sides of the key and the four sided key has teeth on four sides. This particular structure make it difficult to break the lock.

So by going deep in to the area of locksmith we can see the field is very big and interesting. Any way locksmiths is the first stage of security engineering and every other security buildup on it.
